Last ball defeat for Mount

This year's Dawe Insurance Andrew Cup Final will be an all West Penwith affair with St Ives taking on Penzance II at the traditional venue of St Gluvias CC on Monday, July 24 (6pm).

In the semi-finals St Ives defeated Porthleven by six wickets after Porthleven had made 160-7. JJ Walker made 35 and Paddy Gardner 32 with Ashley Waters taking 3-41. St Ives swept to victory through Andre Otto (89) and Damien Ward (20).

The other semi-final was a much closer affair as Penzance seconds defeated Mount Ambrose by one wicket off the last ball of the match in a thrilling finish at St Clare.

Mike Kent made 48 and Simon Johnson 42 as Mount Ambrose made 134-5 in their 20 overs. Penzance were well served by Liam Devine with 39, Ryan Irvine 37 and Tom Wilson with 33. Kevin Riddle took 2-31.

Penzance II beat Mount Ambrose by one wicket off the last ball Porthleven 160-7 (JJ Walker 35, P Gardner 32; A Waters 3-41), St Ives 163-4 (A Otto 89, D Ward 20). St Ives beat Porthleven by six wickets.

The County final of the Spirit of Cricket Under 13 National Competition was staged at Grampound Road Cricket Club with Troon taking on Looe.

Troon looked capable of a score of 120 but the last three overs of their innings only yielded three runs and they finished on 90.

S Jenkins ripped the middle order out of Looe's batting with 3-6 as Looe finished on 74-8 .

Troon won by 16 runs and represent Cornwall against the Dorset champions Bridport at home.
