From the archive, first published Tuesday 10th Feb 2004.

A fossil found in Bridgwater Bay will go on public display in April.

The 1.5 metre plesiosaur, found on the shore last October by fisherman Nick Collard, is 185 million years old.

The turtle-shaped body, four paddles and small head were preserved beneath the rock surface and will be on display at the Somerset County Museum in Taunton.
