POLICE have seized £150,000 worth of Ecstasy, speed and cannabis in a raid on a home near Truro. More than 10,000 Ecstasy tablets were recovered.

The neighbourhood beat sergeant for Truro, Chris Strickland, who headed the operation, said he was delighted with the raid which also recovered a number of items he believes to be stolen property.

"This will have a major impact on drugs in Truro and throughout mid and west Cornwall," said Sgt Strickland.

The morning raid on a property near the city involved officers from the Truro neighbourhood team, Perranporth and the target policing team.

A male suspect who tried to run from the house when the police arrived on Friday was apprehended at the scene. Officers then searched the property discovering the drugs and the suspected stolen property.

A man was arrested at the house and has been charged with possession of intent to supply the class A drug Ecstasy, class B drug speed and class C drug cannabis. The drugs have been sent away for analysis.
